Giving back to our community is very important to us.
That’s why Amos the Wonder Horse® is proud to volunteer. He has provided therapeutic pony time with special needs children and adults and made bedside visits to medically fragile children.
Amos has been a four-legged volunteer for Personal Ponies of Florida, a national nonprofit organization that provides Shetland ponies and miniature horses for therapy activities with special needs children and adults. He has also volunteered at the Palm Beach County Sherriff’s “Run for the Animals” event and visited a “Best Buddies” group at a local high school. In addition, he has participated in one-on-one visits with Alzheimer’s patients and children with autisim.
Currently, Amos is an equine volunteer for the St. Petersburg Police Department where he presents his Just Say Whoa ® to Bullying with his police officer partner. The program is approved by the Pinellas county school board and together they visit schools to teach children of all ages about bullying prevention and stranger danger.
Amos is also the first equine invited to visit All Children’s Hospital, a Johns Hopkins facility, where he visits each month.
Can he visit inside your facility?
He sure can! Amos sports a special pair of shoes which allow him to make indoor visits in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, gyms – you name it! He’s even rides in elevators!
